Creative Vision

Ruby initially approached us for several of our services, including vocal coaching, the production and composition of her debut solo track, Rejected. Following the success of the songwriting and production process, we moved forward with creating a music video to visually bring the track to life.

 

As Ruby’s first solo release, it was important that the video reflected both the vulnerability and strength within the song. Our creative vision was to subtly tell the story behind the lyrics, capturing the emotional journey of experiencing rejection. Rather than making the narrative overly literal, we focused on atmosphere, expression, and mood to allow viewers to connect with the feeling of the track in their own way.

 

Alongside the music video production, we also carried out behind-the-scenes photography and professional portrait sessions, providing Ruby with high-quality promotional content she can continue to use throughout her growing career.

 

Production

During production, our primary focus was showcasing Ruby’s personality and the raw emotion behind the track. We used a variety of locations that complemented the tone of the song, helping to visually mirror the themes of isolation, reflection, and resilience.

Through a mix of close-up shots to capture intimate expressions and wider cinematic frames to emphasise mood and space, we created strong visual contrast throughout the video. Carefully considered camera movements and framing techniques allowed us to enhance the storytelling without overpowering the performance.

In addition to the video footage, we captured a series of professional photographs that highlighted both Ruby’s artistic identity and her natural presence on camera. These images added depth to the overall project and strengthened her visual branding.

 

Post-Production Approach

The post-production process was smooth and collaborative. The client required only two review rounds, with minor refinements to ensure the final edit aligned perfectly with her vision.

During editing, we focused on pacing, colour grading, and seamless transitions to enhance the emotional impact of the song. Subtle visual effects and carefully timed cuts were used to maintain engagement while preserving the authenticity of the performance. The final grade helped unify the different locations and establish a cohesive, cinematic feel throughout the video.

 

Outcome

The final video achieved a powerful result, successfully capturing the spirit and emotion of Rejected. The response on YouTube has been incredibly positive, with the video continuing to gain views and engagement over time. Seeing Ruby grow from a young artist taking her first solo steps to someone confidently pursuing her dreams has been a rewarding journey. This project not only marked an important milestone in her career but also demonstrated the impact of combining strong storytelling with authentic performance.
